2008 Denver Pride Gallery - photos of Denver's 2008 Pride Parade and Festival
by Rick Chris
Some notes: Slightly cooler weather brought out a very large crowd for the 2008 Pridefest - the official crowd estimate in the hundreds of thousands. I walked down the parade route and saw a good crowd all along the route, all the way from Franklin Street down to the Civic Center. If you look into the background of some of the photos, you'll get a candid view of who comprises the crowd. You'll seem some personal dramas of friends meeting each other and displays of affection. You'll also see quite a number of people with children. This might explain the demand for gay marriage. As people gather about them spouses, children and the other responsiblities of family, they see the need for a legal recognition of their union and protection under law - that probably drives the desire for gay marriage and not an underlying fantasy conspiracy as voiced by hysterical right wingers.
